Programme Highlights: The Hong Kong Observatory is a government department responsible for forecasting weather and issuing warnings on weather-related hazards. It also monitors and assesses radiation levels in Hong Kong, and provides other meteorological and geophysical services to meet the needs of the public and the shipping, aviation, industrial and engineering sectors. It provides weather services to the public, fishermen, shipping community, special users, as well as the aviation sector. Programme Highlights: Good practice and strategic standardisation of the coding system are the principal drivers to ensure that water supplies, sewerage and drainage assets continue to be fit-for-purpose and cost-effective. Materials and products specifications, quality assurance systems, certification programs, design and construction codes, and competency-based training schemes will support and form a total package of standard practices of the industry that can help Hong Kong's water supply, sewerage and drainage industries to deliver quality services. The Code of Practice for Conduit Condition Evaluation Using CCTV in Hong Kong will provide a valuable standardising and stabilising influence on the approach to conduit condition evaluation at a time when Hong Kong's water supplies, sewerage and drainage industries embark on a beginning to focus on asset management and asset maintenance as a stand-alone discipline .

Dear All,

Due to the worldwide economic crisis, this year the AGM and Annual Dinner will be held at 8/F. Chinese restaurant of CityU on Monday, 30 March. The charge for the Dinner has been reduced from pervious year $300 to $280 per person.

The AGM will be started at 7:00pm and the Dinner has been scheduled at 7:30pm. This will be my last AGM as the Chairman of HK Section and Prof. Lock will take over the Chairmanship. I am sure that under the leadership of Prof. Lock, HK Section will reach a new high.

I write to invite you to join the AGM and the Dinner. Indeed, the Section urges your continuing support!

Dear Members,

The forum will be held in PolyU on May 17, 2008 (Sat).

Contents:

Product Safety is the hottest topic in the manufacturing industry. Many different types of products were found not to comply with the safety standards/regulations. The custom and the buyers continue to closely monitor their vendors. EU and USA proposed many new regulations to regulate the safety of products.

The forum invited some expertise in Fire Safety Products, Electronic Product, Toys and Children Products, to introduce the change and trend of safety standards.
