Message from The Vice Chairman, Qualification & Membership
It gives the greatest pleasure to the Local Section of The Institute of Measurement and Control (The Institute) to have Dr Patrick Finlay, the Chief Executive, of The Institute visited Hong Kong from 14 to 17 December 2017. This is impressive to have gathered local members, supporting partners, Heads of Government Dept. and Airport Authority, Representatives of PolyU, CityU, OU, HKCT and MUST, Institutional Heads from Guangdong, Shenzhen and Macau, Director of The British Consulate – Hong Kong, and our Chief Executive of The Institute to participate the Annual Reception at the British Consulate on 15 December 2017. In the Annual Reception, Dr Patrick Finlay opened the speech by expressing his gratitude to the successful event, there was about 80 people as far as I could remember. Dr Patrick Finlay did emphasise the focal points of The Institute, on top of the development areas of sensors, would be Automation, Big Data, IoT, Robotics, etc. with an aim to be one of the leaders of the advanced technology professional bodies. This message is indeed a great support not only for the healthy growth of The Institute, but is all about legacy. The knowledge and wisdom that we could bring to our next generation. Moreover, the responsibility of building the world a better place to live for our kids.
On behalf of the Local Section, I would like to make use of this opportunity to express my sincerely thanks to Dr Patrick Finlay. During his short trip to Hong Kong, he had meeting with The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), visited HKU, CityU, OU, as well as HKCT where our new local liaison office is established. I would like to have your most respectful blessing to our New Chief Executive – Dr Patrick Finlay, who is a visionary gentleman leading The Institute towards a new technology century.
